APRIL NEWSLETTER

The April 8, 2008 meeting of the Central New York Car Club Association was called to order at 6:59 by the President, Dennis Connor.  Our guest for the evening was a young ice cream vendor named Chad Neidl.  Chad has a self contained trailer from which to vend soft ice cream and “Sno Ball “ (sno cone) products.  In addition he is the owner of several rare ice cream vending trucks which he hopes to restore into a fleet.  Please consider him when looking for vendors for your show.  His number is 315-225-1848 and his address is PO Box 623, Rome, NY 13442.

Dennis reported that Bob Hoffman’s show was successful car count wise, but as is the trend today the count was down for spectators.  Bob is paying for pitchers of soda at our next couple of meetings as a thank you gift for the good judge turnout we have had.  While there was some trouble with the computer program it was worked out.  Some judging sheets needed to be reviewed but it is generally a fair system.  We need to communicate with the Fair management regarding the crowd limits and the price involved to put on the show.  Bob needs to limit his price due to all the free cruises where cars can be seen today.  In some ways we become our own worst enemies while enjoying our cars. Gas may be a factor this year for both the participants and spectators in our shows.

On the subject of Cruises the Market will definitely be moved to Tuesday from 4-8 and the market will be open using us as a sales pitch for their new date.

The Syracuse Nationals Volunteer committee is looking for last year’s volunteers to register so they may organize the jobs they need to cover.  Mike Alexander stated that volunteering is open to those with or without collector cars.  A discussion followed as to how to contact them.

The schedules are printed and being distributed.  Please note that the first item on the schedule is no longer being held.  The Brewerton Fire Department was going to allow the cruise to be held weekly but them came to the G M Kruzzers after the schedules were printer and said that they will be holding a Bingo night each week instead.  Please pass that information on to your friends.  We had 12,000 schedules printed so are not bothering to scratch the event from each copy.

The Traditional Cruise to the Village of Liverpool has been moved from Tuesday to Friday in the park in the center of the village (Washington Park, I think).  This move is in response to the Tuesday night Market Cruise.  Poorboys have reported that they will stay at the Skanellus Drive in spite of recent difficulties there.

Flyers received included the Buick Clubs all GM show on 6/14 and the Cicero Parade on the same day.  Kruzing Knights and DeRuyter are also on that date.

The Treasurer’s Report was read and placed on file.

The report from the Baldwinsville Cruise is that the route may be simplified.

Quaker Steak and Lube has changed their opening date to April 16th.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 PM after Bob W, from the Ford club won the 50/50.
